Shipping little paintings to PA and NYC
My paintings travel more than I do. These little strangers are going to Era contemporary in Philadelphia and ConArtist Collective in NYC on the 23rd and 25th of February respectively.
Imaginary Process
I've been working on small little things in my studio at home. It's nice. I almost forgot about painting for myself.
The thing I get most spiritual about in art is realizing places/people/scenarios from scribbles and automatic drawing/mark-making. I like that the narrative presents itself to me much like reading/writing a novel simultaneously. It's a lot to do with illustration, though I rarely set out with a goal there's a similar process of culling memory and using imagination to build something from lines, squiggles, and shapes. The weirdest part is that they don't feel like me, and often the process is so automatic the end result seems unfamiliar.

Doing little gouaches in the studio
Working small is relaxing sometimes. This little gouache happened the way my paintings usually happen with a few automatic scribbles, and a few wipe-outs resulting in an image emerging from the mess. Maybe I'll make these large someday, but for now I'm enjoying working little.
Oilwick Superstitions Show
Had a lot of fun showing at my old studio/gallery space. Also, there will be a closing show with visits to the space throughout this month by appointment. Hope to see you there.
